Focaccia Bread
Focaccia Bread
makes 1 pizza-sized loaf
In a mixing bowl, whisk together until dissolved:
- 1 Tbsp. white sugar
- 1 package (about 2 tsp.) instant yeast
- 1 cup warm water
Then add, mixing with wooden spoon:
- 1 cup All-Purpose Flour (or half white /half whole-wheat flour)
- 2 Tbsp Olive Oil
- pinch salt
- 1 tsp. garlic powder
Mix in with spoon and your hands to form a ball:
- another 1 cup to 1-1/2 cup more flour to make a nice dough
Knead 1 minute.
Grease cookie sheet with a little olive oil. Sprinkle pan with 1 Tbsp cornmeal. Flatten dough on cookie sheet until 1 inch thick, and cover with clean damp dish towel. Let rise in a warm place for 15 mins. while oven preheats to 375 F.
Use your fingers to poke holes down into the risen dough.
Drizzle the top with 2 Tbsp olive oil.
Top with:
sea salt
herbs de provence (rosemary, marjoram and oregano)
basil
garlic powder
Bake for 15 mins or until it turns golden brown. Slice and serve with a dip of balsamic vinegar and olive oil.
